Lay Bare: pink trace
This young girl's closet offers the viewer an insight into this most intimate of domestic spaces, discussing some of the vulnerable emotions of my childhood. The interior of the closet is lined with delicate, hand-printed paper and is lit internally by two small fixtures. Within this constructed closet are a number of cast porcelain hangers; some hangers are left bare, while others have a gossamer sheath of patterned paper stretched across their armature creating a skin. The use of pink and red in this piece reinforces the notions of the corporeal and feminine. On an adjacent shelf, tapered ceramic cylinders embody a pair of immobile, confined legs.
