Gathering

Two pairs of hands delicately suspend a large sewn paper sack just above the ground. A group of dimly lit light bulbs hang down from the ceiling into the interior well, illuminating the translucent sack. The thin membrane of the well serves to protect, gather, and filter the light. The piece embodies a simple act of human collaboration, the nurturing of vulnerability. It lingers in time and space, responding to the viewer's proximity and movements, bending and swaying as if it were breathing.
